Mast crutch...
I don't ever remove the mast crutch from its place in the sockets on the transom. It serves two purposes (in addition to supporting the mast during trailering): I mounted the bracket which holds my horseshoe buoy on the fore side of the pole; in port, I slide an extension pole into the top of tube on which I mount a TV antenna. I know another H-23.5 owner who mounts a camcorder on the top of the mast crutch and tapes his sailing adventures (which provides him with sailing memories during the long winter months). It may look a little strange sticking up like a sore thumb while sailing, but it serves some very practical functions.Dale Wiles/v GrandechildSandpoint, Idaho
