This pump is obsolete and looking for recommendations on a replacement with filter screen. Catalina direct wants two hundred and Amazon aftermarket brands are a third of the cost and come with screen, fittings and clamps! Do I even need a screen since it is only pumping fresh water from the water tank?

Yes, you should have a screen filter that comes with the pump. The pump may not be bothered by the material that flows thru it, but it will surely clog up the faucet screen from time to time. You don't need to buy from CD but you should be careful what you buy on Amazon for marine use. You will find better deals on Shurflo pumps at Defender or other marine outlets. I prefer Shurflo Aqua King models for fresh water pumps and have good experiences with both that I have bought. I wouldn't quibble about the small price of a pump that should last another 20 years, but maybe that's just me. Both that I have bought were the 4 gpm model, but I suspect that 3 or even 2 gpm models could be perfectly adequate.
