I'm trying to figure out what style mount the original alternator is for my C27. I was looking to upgrade and viewing the BALMAR website, but being a novice in this area I can't tell. The marinedieseldirect.com website states the replacement alternator is a 35 amp but doesn't specify what type of mount. Does anyone have any insight? I'm not sure if the size/type has changed since the first C27 came off the line. Tim

Try the West Marine Advisors

online, or better yet their catalog, which explains how to determine the type of alternator mount you have. Be careful about the size of any new alternator you are considering, because of the load on the engine (horsepower drain), belt size, affect on side loads on your engine bearings, and the like. Based on you other post about the C27 Association, they may be a good place to start.

Have you Tried Balmar?

I would think that since they are trying to sell you the alternator, it would be in their best interest (& area of expertise) to know what would fit the M-18. Don't be afraid to ask them! (if you haven't already).
