Hi all!
This is my first post as I just bought a 1984 Yamaha 30-2 and this forum is full of helpful advice, so was wondering does anyone have experience with the drive shaft seal(stuffing box)? Ie, what size cord do I need, and does anyone have a copy of the manual for this model with the motor under the companionway?
Thanks kindly!

Welcome to the SBO forum. Congrats on the boat.
The stuffing box for your boat is pretty universal design. Here is a good discussion about the stuffing box.

Your flax size is dependent on the shaft size or stuffing box nut size. 1/8” (3.175 mm) or 1/4” (6.35 mm) are possible as the boat description likely does not have a giant shaft and 100hp motor. At a cost (less that a cup of coffee) for a package at the boat store (chandler) you could buy one of each and return the one that is a bad fit.

Good luck. You found a good sailing boat.

Thanks! I will have a look at that. This boat hasn't been in the water for 10 yrs, but has been well cared for by the previous owner who bought it new, so hope I don't have too many surprises.
