Good evening, here are pics of keel bolts. Please let me know what you think. I am interested in getting this boat; Hull 1433. Thanks for your help

Ask the owner if you can back off the nuts to inspect the tops of the bolts. One at a time of course. It will be obvious if there is any crevice corrosion.

I was wondering if IslandPilot actually bought that boat, the nuts look pretty good. I am in the process of replacing 4 of my nuts because they sat in some bilge water while on the hard and got a bit rusty. Otherwise, we just applied barrier coat and biocide and our keel is solid, the bolts all look great and are clean. The process I am following (any and all comments are welcome) is to spray them with wd-40 every time I visit the boat for about a month, then get a top quality wrench that fits the nuts perfectly, carefully back each one off, clean the threads with some oil, then use the new washer and new nut and tighten to 70 foot pounds. I have purchased the yellow zinc/chrome coated nuts referred to in the article. I am doing this while in the water, at the dock, I don't see any risk to upgrading one nut at a time.

A normal disappointment here on the forum. Island Pilot posted a message and never returned. We likely will never know. The post is from 2019.

One of the forum learning experiences is posts in a "special" brand sometimes are not seen by the majority of members. The post is asked in a brand forum, yet the query could be answered better if posted in the "Ask All Sailors" forum.

dressler17... You can use oil or wd40 to clean the bolt threads, just make sure that the bolts are not lubricated when you are torqueing the nuts.
