My friend you have a good rigger named Tim at All Seasons on Lake Norman who runs the yard and knows the hunters.
First the centerboard is made by Foss Foam and they are in Florida. Look up on the internet and you will need to talk with Bob. Tell him I sent you or mention Crazy dave condon. It is costly.
The only way for a novice is to let Tim lift the boat up. To take it off, there is a bolt at the base of the compression post plate. You will need to take off the cover plate to see it. when you take that off, you will need to wiggle the unit for it to come loose . Make sure you note how the line runs and put a tracer on it. Maybe time to replace that line is now and it is smaller one size below 1/2 inch.
