My 2004 h386 has a Hunter-installed 16k btu (left hand) heat and air unit. This unit has developed corrosion in the condenser coil area that was undetected until it started leaking from the cooling water line that is integrated with the coils interior of the condenser housing in the unit. It appears that repair is synonymous with the rebuilding unit, which means replacing new seem a better choice. The problem appears to be that this unit is no longer made and a larger unit cannot be fitted into the a/c area (dinette settee).

So, my question: is there a company that rebuilds and/or manufactures units that fit the specs and size of this 10 year old unit? Or, might some of you have another solution.

Many thanks.

Is it a cooling water or freon leak? If cooling water a generous mitten-full of solder could repair it.

Check again,l am quite certain the newer units will fit.If anything, they are making them more compact.my hunter356 has a 16000 btu unit that I considered replacing, and I checked some other brand replacement units that had smaller footprints.

I think if you look up Marine AC units on the web you will find one that will fit and have seen newer units in newer Hunter for your location.

Had the same problem on my 2005 H44. Had to replace my 16K unit as the entire frame of the unit was corroded. I later learned that a ground wire had pulled off of the frame so there was some electrolisis going on that ate the frame. This was exacerbated by the standing water in the drain pan. The issue with replacement was the fact that it was a left hand unit. I was able to get the new Marine Air Vector Turbo unit as a left hand unit and was able to install it with some very minor modifications. Controls did not have to be replaced.

The new unit also has a fiberglass drain pan which minimizes corrosion of the pan itself.

I am in a similar situation as you and got a quote from a local marine air dealer for one of the new vector units for just over 3K for a 12000 BTU unit that would fit. I also discovered a company in Florida Ocean Breeze that manufactures units that will fit the dimensions of your original unit.
Their website is www.oceanbreezeac.com and I am considering getting the unit from them and installing it myself as this will be quite a bit in savings.
Less that half than the Marine Air unit.

I believe your unit is from Marvair.
They still make these units, and might be able to repair your old one.
Worth checking into.
If you can stay with Marvair, (if that's what you've got), it will save you the cost of a new control head. . (400)
