The tubing along the mast is for holding the lifting saddle in place; it does not support any lifting force. Note stabilizing cables. These do not get particularly taught during rasing, and aren't necessary if doing this on level ground. I installed them for additional safety on land, and a necessity when on the water.

The lifting assembly in place. The lifting line runs from the mast, over the gin pole, to a pulley in the anchor locker, and to the mast winch with four turns. DO NOT USE NYLON LINE. This does stress the mast winch so it must be in good order (mounting hardware especially).
