I wanted to share this photo of my '84 O'Day 26 centerboard pendant. I bought the boat 4 years ago and never had a problem with the centerboard. I didn't know how to check it out but I was worried about it. After following the helpful advice of Joe (sailtrinkka) on this web site I put the boat on stands and raised the keel about 18" off the ground so that I was able to lower the centerboard enough to look at the pendant. As you can see the pendant only had a few threads left on it. Boy am I glad I checked it out. It is a simple enough fix: order a new pendant from D&D, attach a chaser line to the cockpit end of the existing pendant and pull it through to the bottom of the keel. Then attach the chaser line to the new pendant and pull it back up to the cockpit. Wonder if I can get another 28 years out of this new pendant?
Thank you Joe and if anyone has any questions please refer to Joe's old post under the following thread.

I wonder if that one is original or not? Mine was wire to rope when I replaced it.

I'm so pleased that I was able to help you with this. Hopefully Rudy's pendant line will have a shackle similar to mine which has a small sheave attached to it. The braid eye splice fits around this small sheave which takes the place of a small thimble and guards against chafe.
Actually, the pendant line should last you many years. The only thing you need to check is the cotter pin on the rigging pin of the shackle. I had a broken cotter pin on mine a couple of years ago and was able to replace it in time.
That's probably the original pendant line. Here's a picture of my pendant line shackle which is the one I bought off Rudy many years ago. Note the small sheave that the eye is spliced around. It will never wear out the eye splice. The shackle that came with my boat was the same as the one on your pendant line.
Good Luck!
Joe
