I know it's basic but just for my sanity can some one confirm the Y valve under the sink and shower sump operation.... I think water from the fridge back filled in the head

You turn the valve one way to empty the frig and the other way to empty the shower, using the switch in the head to turn on the pump. Unless the hoses were switched on the valve I don't see how it he frig would back fill the shower.

I cannot pump water from either my shower or my fridge - problem is that the pump needs to be replaced. At least it is in a convenient place.

Have you checked the strainer under the sink in the head, Bob? It's amazing how quickly that thing gets blocked up!

Sorry for the late reply. On my boat, #199 ,the OUTLET from the shower sump pump tees into the INLET for the head and exits the boat via the head inlet seacock. As a result of that strange arrangement the shower sump pump will run but not move any water unless the head inlet seacock is open. I suppose if the seacock is closed and the head pump seals leak a little then sump water could find its way into the head as described.

Yes and yes

1) you can not remove water from the shower sump, or fridge.
2) you see that the filter is clogged and clean it.
3) when replacing the filter bowl crap gets in the gasket seal and causes an air leak.
4) you make the assumption that the pump is bad and purchase a new one only to find you still have the same problem.

Make sure you check for air leaks especially around the strainer bowl seal. If it is sucking air it will not suck fluid.

I totally think this is the case for me as well. Going to give it a try this weekend. THANKS

So I replaced the bottom and top gaskets with the upper and lower kits... For less than $30. Sump works like new!

I have my sump pump hoses disassembled replacing each section looking for that leak. Looks like you hit on the solution but I need more details. Where are the gaskets you replaced? On the sump pump? On the Y valve? Where did you get gaskets? What upper and lower kits? Help, need to winterize!

I am currrently experiencing the same situation. Replacing all the hoses under the galley...today or tomorrow I hope.

Can anyone provide some clarity on WellerH's comments regarding output of sump pump tee'ing into inlet of the head? Was this certain model numbers or year groups of the 310?

I have a "Shower/Frig Sump Pump Outlet" Through-Hull Valve (it's labled with a tag/placard) under the galley sink. It is right next to (and bigger) than the sink outlet Through-Hull Valve.

My buddy and I played with this situation for about an hour and found when we started swapping out hoses found that a new hose connected directly to the strainer and then on to the pump and the pump outlet to the through-hull valve worked fine when we stuck the input coupler of the strainer into a bowl of water that it sucked it dry. Air leak for me is not the strainer...guess it just be a hose. Tried putting things back together and didn't work...air leak somewhere. Have new hose so will replace them all today.

Hull #218 has same setup Wellerh describes. There is a drain from the fridge which goes to a y-valve under the head sink. The other inlet to the y-valve services the shower sump. Outlet from the Y-valve is teed to head raw water inlet. To pump the shower sump the y-valve has to be oriented correctly and the head raw water thru hull has to be open.

There is only one thru hull under the Galley sink which is a dedicated sink drain only.

Interesting. I have Hull #178 and have 2 through hulls under the galley. Does not go through the head inlet.

Replaced all the hoses yesterday. Put new o-rings on the couplers for the Jabsco pump. Got it working. Poured a couple of cups of water in the shower and sucked the shower sump dry. Switched over to fridge sump and got nothing. Switched back to shower sump and got nothing. Not working again. I still suspect those coupler pieces.

Then I would be suspicious of the Y valve itself. I found a glob of crap in mine.
