the boat had a recycling sanitation system. i converted it to a regular configuration of head to tank. tank thru hand pump to sea. the holding tank is only 8 gallons. what i want to do is install a y valve so i can go directly to sea when off shore.
the problem is that the whole system is only 4 feet long and all the hoses and pump are under the sink in the head and room is very limited.
i can fit a y valve in the hose from the head to the tank. question is if i put a tee between the hand pump and the thru hull will it back up into the pump? the pump is about 1 foot higher then the head and the thru hull.
the other thing i wanted to ask is enzyme in the holding tank. will they live in a salt water enviornment or is it a waste of time?

thanks in advance for all the advice

My 35 II has a joker valve at the pump exit which prevents the backup you're worried about. The tee is just passed this, one leg to the throughhull and the other to the hose under the sink that goes to the tank.
