I don't mind my name being out there, it's on the "About" page of my web site. I just choose to go by a screen name on the net. There are lots of people who know and have known who I am so not really that big of a secret.Nice. but I bet he's not pleased that his name shows up. Pretty secretive here on SBO
Yeah, but I never violated the restraining order!...I went to a screen name after some nut-bag latched onto me in the late 90's when I was using my real name. he managed to get my email address, phone number, address etc. etc.. He was harmless and a little "disturbed" but it gave me the creeps.. ...
He called my site "odd", it is, but it has simply evolved. I am in the process of trying to come up with a more "current" site but want to keep the look and feel. I keep striking out with web developers that can do what I want..Ben Ellison calling someone else "odd"? That's funny. Look Ben, he may not be a glossy magazine writer, but boaters depend on guys like Maine Sail to tell us when manufacturers are trying to sell us crap at 2 times the price of perfectly-fine.
If there is a movie I'll play the part of the guy that needs his boat fixed, of course filmed on location on my boat. Hint HintI am still waiting for the book. It will, without a doubt, be a best seller in the marine community. Movie deal after the book?![]()
Actually Yacht Snot and Boat Gum were in the running...MS has always given well founded and documented advice; a rarity on most forums. Whatever his name is he is doing a great job - odd or not.
I still think that "Boat Snot" would have been a good brand name for Butyl tape!
I am the barnacle whisperer..There is only one problem with his posts. We all know that they are not really real because you notice the pristine bilge, the spotless engine, and the fact that there is not one tiny speck of crud anywhere! Hell, Mainesail probably has the barnacles trained to go away from his boat!![]()
