Right now, google shopping shows pyacht.com as having the Trident 101 for $4.00/ft, but when you go to their website its listed at $6.24/ft. Maybe you could call and get them to honor the $4 listing. Anyone ever done business with them?

I've been putting off dealing with the head on my old boat, seeing as we're not ready for more than daysailing yet. It's currently plumbed for overboard only w/ no holding tank. Looks like the factory original head (1965 - I believe it's a Groco). I plan on buying and reading Peggy's book before proceeding, but if this is really such a good deal on the Raritan, I may buy it and put it in storage until I'm ready.

John, the reputation of Raritan is real good and both the msrp and various list priced are way more than this sale price. If your project will require buying a plumbed head then I think it's wise to buy the on sale toilet now.

Thanks also for the info on hoses.

The thing that really chaps my hide after spending most of last weekend standing on my head in an aft lazarette replacing several short lengths of old sanitation hose is that while I have to go to enormous lengths to ensure I don't occasionally dump 15 or 20 gallons of sewage overboard or else I'll be fined, the local utility authority just 'accidentally' dumped 2.4 million gallons of sewage in the bay last week, 1.2 million the week before, and an additional 600 gallons just the other day. Ooops, our bad, sorry. No one will be fined, much less fired. So if the bay can suck that up without any impact, well, it makes me much more willing to do what I need to do if the tank's full, it's late, and there isn't a convenient pumpout.

I found it very interesting when I was down sailing in the BVI's last June to see that all the boats pump directly overboard. Not a holding tank to be found. And yet they have the most amazingly clear water. I asked the chap giving us the boat checkout, and he said "don't worry, anything you pump over the fish will immediately eat." No toilet paper goes in the toilet though, a habit we brought back with us to the states.

Robert, it's really very simple:

Since the municipalities have been dumping, it is painfully OBVIOUS that it is the dreaded YACHTSMEN who are pushing the filth in the waters OVER THE EDGE.

If it wasn't for boaters, the water would be "just about" at the range of filthiness based on the crap the "authorities" are dumping.

It's ALL your fault!!! :cussing:

BVI pumping?

Hhmmm... When I chartered a Moorings 42 last year, we flushed into a holding tank, then when out in the channel pumped it overboard. We were told to NOT pump out at an anchorage. I'm on a Sunsail 44 this winter, so wonder what the latest plan is???

Of course the BVIs are in the middle of the ocean, so consantly gets "flushed".

I don't think the waters of B.C. are any worse than American waters. You have had to use holding tanks since 1972. For boats built previous to 2007 we don't need holding tanks until next May (2012). And even then there are only 9 bays listed on B.C.'s West Coast that you are not allowed to pump into.
