Universal 18 parts?

After reading several topics I've finally worked up the courage to replace my fuel filter. I don't trust the local marine service any more than I trust Jiffy Lube on my wife's car. Does anyone know of an off-the-shelf fuel filter that works on the M-18? I was told that one of the Volkswagen rabbit filters is the same but any help here would be appreciated. Stu's thread to how to change the filter has pumped up my courage.

I assume you are referring to the engine mounted spin on canister filters and not the in-line. Universal engines are built from Kubota diesels which are used in many tractors. I've been buying my oil and fuel filters from a local tractor supply shop. About half the cost as from a marine supply house.
