Just getting my first Hunter, a 2000 model 310. It has an ice box and I plan on adding refrigeration can a current owner tell me where the factory refrigeration is installed?

Appreciate it.

I am only guessing but I think what they do is add one of many different systems of add on ref to the ice box.
Is it a chest deep ice box built into the conter top area ??

Not a 36...

I have a 2006 Hunter 31, I recently installed a refrigeration unit in mine. I used the same model as was factory installed. I worked with Greg from Hunter marine during one of my visit's to the factory, OK, I only went once. How large is the current opening in the counter top? I am currently away from MY computer, but if you can get me an email I will get a copy of what I had to do. This is for a top loading refrigeration unti.

Thanks to both the replies

Yes it is a top loading chest type icebox, I am not concerned about the plate I am interested in where the compressor unit is normally placed. I have seen one article where the owner placed it on the shelf in the aft cabin, I really don't want to do that. In my last boat it was under the sink but I have also heard of it being placed in the starboard lazerette. Wanted to know where the factory puts them.

Your 310 internal layout looks like my 326. I place the refig Coldmachine compressor and Aircon unit inside the starboard seat compartment.

Mine came with an icebox conversion installed, with the compressor being located under the sink. The problem is, being enclosed in a small space like that, the unit receives no ventilation and gets too hot. I ended up installing a couple of louver vents, as well as a fan to draw fresh air into the cabinet.

This works ok, but a better solution would probably be the lazerette (or one of those keel coolers or Isotherm SP units that conducts the heat directly to the water).
