Venting window for O'Day 22

Does anyone know where I could get venting windows to replace the fixed pane glass windows that come with the O'Day 22, or has anyone ever converted the fixed windows to venting windows?

As far as I know there are no such replacement port lights that open for the O'Day 22 or the 222. I'm curious as to why you would want to install them on your boat. Could you elaborate on that?

I replaced the leaking fixed head ports on my O'Day 25 with Beckson opening ports. Size was similar and didn't need too much cutting. Great to have opening ports with screens. O'Day 22 may be different size.

For Ventilation purposes. If we used the boat for camping I would like to be able to open the windows, (with screens), for fresh air, and be able to close the companion way door for privacy. Thanks for the reply though.

For ventilation when I'm on an overnighter on my boat, I leave the foward hatch open with a small 5X7' Polytarp tied to the mast and furler to form a wind scoop. I made up a Nylon type screen years ago that goes over this hatch from the inside, held in place with Velcro. I also tie an 8 X 10' Polytarp over the boom and to the life lines to keep out rain or night time dew. For the companionway hatch, I have a large weighted screen that is built specifically for that hatch. They sell them at "Worst Marine" and "Boater's World" I think. A friend of mine gave me the one I have. I just tie that screen off to my grab rails, slide the hatch aft over the companionway and let the screen hang over the opening. That wind scoop over the forward hatch does the trick for me. Sometimes it gets too cool and I have to shut the hatch a little or put on another blanket. The tarps can be put up fast and taken down fast with quick release hitches.

I checked the Beckson site out but they looked pretty generic. Were you able to have the ones you got custom made for O'Day? I would really like to get some teak wood and make my own frames and put sliding windows in. That is when I have a lot of time and money though. Maybe a winter project. The water seal would probably be much better with the Beckson windows though.

The Beckson ports I used were the 4x14" Rain Drain #PO414DWS-10. They are white with smoked glass & screen. They are close enough for me to the other windows on the O'Day 25.

There's a product out on the market that is much better than Silicone. Silicon is kind to plastic but it really doesn't stick too well to it. It acts more like a gasket when applied than a caulking In fact, a lot of boat manufacturers use this caulking for windows and plastic hatches because it has the adherence qualities of regular Polysulfide caulking without being harmful to the plastic. It's called Dow Corning 795 Caulking. It comes in either white or black.

i replaced my forward opening ports with New Found Metals ports, but i usually just leave them closed. reason being i don't like the screen kits on them as it tends to pull them loose every time and it is a bear to get them back on. Poor design in my opinion.
It is pretty dang hot down here, and the little tiny bit of ventilation those vents provide don't help.
I made a framed screen to go over my gangway hatch. It is a piece of screen sandwiched between a plywood frame and the plywood is glued together with epoxy to hold the screen. one side is weighted with a "bean bag" of rocks, and the other has a Velcro strip attached to it and i attach it to the boat so that it forms a hinge. Then i raise it up to go in and out of the boat. . i made another on to fit into the hatch board slot, and it can attach to the framed screen with Velcro. I don't have a picture of it on the boat, but i have it here at the house with me, and i will post a pic of that. I brought it home and modified it this week. If i am on dock, i attach a window fan to the hatchway screen, if out on the water at hook, i have a battery fan that i can put there.
