Dear King Aeolus,

I am usually very grateful for all the blessings of wind you bestow to Recess. My people are also very grateful that you carry our prayers to the four corners of the world from our sweats. But seriously, was today really necessary? I enjoyed the swim in morning and noon off the boat in the middle of the lake with my son and wife and the wisps of wind that caressed the surface of the water with a promise of afternoon winds that would bring us such joy. But dude, what you did today was just cruel. I know that often you will place wind on one side of the lake and I motor sail to it and have a great time. So today when I saw the wind a mile off, I, as always, motor sailed to it and once the boat heels over, cut the engine. I am cool with that. It was not very majestic today that you decided to kill the little breeze that was there just after I made my first tack....EVERY freaking time! Look King, I like to yell Helm's A Lee, almost to the point of perversion I like it so much. I even tried staying in one place and Wait for a little bone to be thrown my way... but no.... you wanted me to keep going after the wind you taunted me with across the lake. Now, for the first time this year, I must break out the aloe. I mean I have a good base tan, it is in my genetics, but trying to hold out for one sustained breeze killed me today. I had the 150 up and everything. Could you please throw me a bone tomorrow?

Sincerely,

Aloe soaked and miffed!

Right now

I would not mind motoring on the lake. Right now I'd just like the rain, hail and lightning to go away, even if it means being becalmed.

I have heard from a couple people you are having an odd weather start to Summer in Colorado.

I see we share a Prindle past. My wife and I loved our Prindle 19. Wish i still had it.

Hi Recess,
Somewhere along the way I figured out you might be a teacher. Living with one for years I would ask you what have you learned today. I go through a list of mental notes every time we are out. What was good, bad, needs fixing, more prepared, tweeked, left alone, wave to more people, or just take what comes. My wife zones out as soon as she steps on the dock going from organizer/manager to "I'm on vacation tie your own knot". Therapy in a bottle or a boat, no worries, be happy.
All U Get

Our sailboat is our escape pod. We both love teaching but it is nice to get away from it. With both of us being teachers, it makes for long get aways on the boat, even if those get aways are on the lake.

I know what you mean Rich.

A raise of the drinking glass as a toast! A Prindle past. :D

I wish I still had mine as well. They are good safe simple catamarans, very resistant to pitchpoling (unlike a certain more famous cat). The Nacra is a lot of fun - but much more work to sail - why I finally decided to move up to the C22.

Aeolus must be pretty po'ed at Colorado right now - golfballs are coming out of the sky a little to the north of me here at work. Tornado watch as well. At least my boat is farther north and in what is currently just rain. Can't sail today, maybe not even this weekend . Boat purchase weather...

I got a small bone today. Enough wind to get around the lake once after grilling some steaks and then it went glassy again. We brought my wife's mother and she had a great time, a little sailing followed by some motoring and chatting. The last two days have made whoever decided to have a factory made cockpit cooler seem like a genius. Blazing heat with ice cold beverages is a good combination.

I have it on good authority that is all the pseudo hippies in Boulder that have brought on this displeasure from Aeolus. When in doubt, blame the pseudo hippies.

if you wish to have more wind, then just whistle while you are on board the boat---you will whistle up a gale and sail a lot!!!!
