No mast lights

You just never know about what a PO might have done to your boat. I bought my boat a year ago. Since then I have alway wondered why I had no working electrical in my mast.
Now I know why the new steaming/decklight I installed did not work, as well as the masthead light. :D
It looks like the transport company that moved my Catalina to my lake simply clipped the wire harness, then did not bother to hook it back up again. This is a much easier fix than I thought it would be.

I also plan to replace my lines. As a lake guy, I think I would be ok with some poly line like a Samson LS. Is this sound? Any idea where I can deal a deal on lines? I avoid WM unless I have no other choice. Thanks in advance.

Cajuntrading.ca has good prices on lines, but they sell their own brand, not name brands like Samson or New England Ropes. R&W Rope Warehouse in New Bedford, MA, also has great prices on ropes...and sell both name brand as well as their own house brand of ropes. The Hall Spars site has rope at good prices, but they're usually remnants of customer projects, so you are limited in size and length many times.

What I would do

I would run complete new wiring in the mast. This way you can be sure it is all OK, and cost is not really a lot. Much better than not knowing if anything else is bad.

Samson LS is good stuff for the money. My dad uses it for his jib sheets on his boat. If you are not racing, it will be fine. Try the website here for good prices or a place like defender. Also ebay can be a great source. Look for Roscoef (seller).

Best prices I found 3 years ago when I redid my lines was from Defender.

I've been happy with halyards etc. made with Samson XLS from this site, they'll make 'em up anyway you want and are usually faster than some other places, if you want to save a little check the "clearance" section of the store, might have what you need at a discount.

Also remember that Defender is having their annual spring sale at the end of March which will reduce cost even more.
