Does anyone have any idea what this is for? It is labeled Sani-Head Conversion Model. I could find no reference in google.
The boat apparently has a drop down keel as evidenced by the winch and the cable sticking out the bottom. I could not find any sign of a hinge bolt.

Project boat

The previous owner may have removed the centerboard and pivot pin. Check to see that the centerboard cable hanging out of the bottom of the trunk is actually attached to a centerboard. It may be missing .

Hailing the Head Mistress.

What can you tell me about this Sani-Head Converter Model. What does it do and is it functional for what ever it does do?

It is supposed to "treat" waste so the it can be discharged directly overboard. No holding tank needed etc etc. Not to be rude your system may be beyond a cost effective repair so you may want to consider a new conventional system or investigate replacement/repair cost. It looks like your system has already been bypassed (short green hose disconnected) and it looks like possibly ?? you could be pumping directly overboard already ?? I'm not sure (but I know Peggy will know) but I believe that even with one of this type of waste treatment systems it may still be illegal to use the direct overboard feature. Check you local laws before you do anything ! Good Luck with you project !

It looks like they put in a pretty good size electic flush portapotty and have that plumbed to the deck pump out. Catalina Island does not allow discharge of any kind (that's why their water looks like Florida's).
Glad you told me, would't want to hook it up to the tap as a desalinator. :puke:

Ok, this one I get, or is it just another outdated worthless jewel?

I even found a manual for this unit but I still have a couple of questions.
The units cannot be separated because they are precharged at the factory and once joined cannot be separated. Do I have to build an insulated box around the cooling unit? If it has lost a charge can it be recharged? Where can I find plans for building a insulated box. The box that it is mounted in does not appear to be insulated, though I have not looked closely.
Thanks again,

I would be surprised if there is not some sort of minimal insulation so check and see. Have you checked the unit to see if it operates ? that would be my next step and go from there...I do think they can be recharged but may have to have fittings put in to do so but again if it works no need. Probably not a do it yourself job due to environmental concerns and you most likely won't be able to purchase the correct freon with out a license especially in California even if you had the gauges and tools to to it.. The amount of insulation will directly relate to the efficiency of the unit and run times as well as how low it will cool on a very hot day. As far as building an insulated box I would try to insulate the box there now (if the unit works) and maybe resurface the interior for appearance

I'll be going back on Saturday to give the PO a check. I don't think checking unit to see if it fires up is going to be my next step. The next step for me is to figure out how to replace the broken bunks, fix the brakes and clean out the gunk hole.

Frank I'm confused , is this the boat you showed pictures of a while back the long, narrow trailer-able one near you? I can't remember the name. Did you get the one in PA? How many boats do you have? If it is none of my business just say so :naughty:. How about some exterior shots of this one?

Thanks and good luck on whichever boat it is,

Sum

Caguy,
Here's a link to one for sale on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/lect...at_Parts_Accessories_Gear?hash=item3ca915ee01 It shows pics of what is inside.

Thanks Jerry it looks like a blender, yum. It would probably be acceptable 3mi out. The boat looks like it has a portable with a fairly large holding thank.
At least I know I can get about 10% of my initial investment back.

Sum, I am now the proud owner of two projects. My wife thinks this will be a good project for the summer. I am selling my Mac 25. I will pickup the Catalina 27 in April and tow out here. I will use that boat while working on the Luger 30. When I'm done I will let my wife decide which is better for her. ;)
I posted pictures at photobucket if you want to check them out. Click on Slide show.

are you going to work on...

your boats at MDR? I thought there was a lot of prejudice against working on boats outside of a formal "yard..."..

They haven't complained about people doing general maintenance. People work on their boats in the storage yard all the time. The nice fella who sold it to me has plenty of room and said I can leave it there and work on it as long as I need to. I have another rental that I can take it to with boat access where I can eventually paint it.
