Just curious, why no pop-top and why the 25 foot limitation?

C&C 25 mkI fits more or less what you're looking for, although not quite standing headroom (5'8"), but that's enough for some people
Well laid out down below, with separate cabins for privacy (head, v-berth and main salon)
They perform well and the 3'10" draft makes trailering easier and allows you access to some spots you can't get at with larger boats :dance:

Alternatively, there's the C&C 25 mkII, with a slightly deeper keel and more headroom...

What you are asking for is a pretty tall order. Especially as most 25's probably have the interior volume of your Rhodes 22. What's your personal definition of standing head room? I am six feet even and even many 28 footers don't have true standing headroom. The C&C 25 is a nice boat from a performance perspective, but its not a floating camper. You may wish to look at the water ballast Catalina 25's and Hunter 25's if room trumps performance for you and you want to stay trailerable. Also, how much $ are we talking?

I trailer launch my Bristol 24, and can raise and lower the mast alone with a brake winch mast raising system. The headroom in part of the cabin is 6'. I've done blue water passages, and river sailing with the 3'5" draft and 3000# of ballast. I race my boat in local PHRF races at my local lake. She does remarkably well against most other sailboats, including 30 footers.

Not a lot different than your Rhodes 22 as far as design, but more room.

Doesn't meet the 25' spec but the Hunter 26/260's are huge inside and with water ballast, trailers reasonably well (from what I'm told).

Try going smaller with a PS Flicka. You would gain head room at the expense of some upwind performance, but the Flicka is a great little trailerable cruising boat.

I think how you are going to use the boat will dictate a lot. If you are going to be in protected waters you don't need to consider sea worthiness and construction as much. If you are going to be making 75 mile passages with no harbors around and open water, you need to consider construction and sea worthiness much more.

You should look into an oday 25. We love ours. Depending on how tall you are, it might meet your standing headroom. We keep ours on a trailer across the bay from you. Would be happy to show her off to you.

..................number of them and was impressed with the room below. Too heavy for us to be pulling it all over the country, but for what you want to do Ron I sure would take a serious look at one. I never did find the interior head room though.

Also how about the O'day 26? Looks to still have an 8 foot beam for trailering,

I am with you I have looked at several c&c boats all bigger than this but I was impressed with there build quality.

Balboa 26

Take a look at this article. I have never sailed on one but have been aboard one. They are trailerable with a swing keel. I believe some were fin keels too. I almost bought one instead of my prior Mirage 27. They are impressive boats, well designed and well built. With all boats of this age, look very carefully at how well maintained they are.

I cruised on a Cal25 for 10 years, even lived aboard for a summer. The thinking there is you're rarely actually STANDING down below, so what's important is "sitting room", and there's lots in a flat-top like a Cal25!

Many boats in that range tried to accomodate the "standing headroom" crowd so there are a lot with a tall skinny cabin that looks ugly and makes sitting difficult (think "shoulder"). But they're around: the Capri 25 (I think), Oday25, the C&C 25...

And I'm personally not a keen fan of water ballast - I feel it's not really ballast at all, since water doesn't weigh more than water. But again, most "trailerable" boat have that, like the Hunter 26. And I'm sure SOMEONE's gonna mention a Mac26...

In other words, getting a 25ft boat with standing headroom and "trailerable" are two BIG compromises. But there are lots of boats out there that will fit the bill. But for me, give me a Cal25 any day!
