The older I get, the less I like being on the deck pulling in sails or tying them down. We plan on adding roller furling for my 65th birthday (less than two years), I can hardly wait. In the mean time I now wear an automatic inflatible vest when on the deck. We have the Dutchman flaking system for which I still get on the deck to ease the line but do not like the way it affects the main. I could run the control line to the cockpit but I still need to get on the deck to tie the sail.
What I am leading up to is what appeard to be a benifet of the lazy jacks, containing the sail on the boom. Has anyone had experience with both systems and why do you like one over the other?
I know you still have to get on the deck to tie and cover the main, but it seems that can more easily be done at the dock with the lazy jacks.
