Hi,
I have just purchased a 1961 Pearson Hawk in pretty good condition. However, it doesn't have a rudder or tiller. I am looking for another Hawk owner to get a template of the rudder assembly. If they are close enough, I would like to make the template myself. If not, I would like a template with enough detail to make a rudder/tiller/kick-up section.
Thanks

the rudder for the hawk is a beavertail made of half inch plywood. It's pretty simple. the gudgeon is made from sheeting track. jim

Congrats! I have a 63 Hawk and it's a great boat. I have lots of pics, specifically the tiller/rudder is at http://www.flickr.com/photos/33992457@N08/3441380681/in/set-72157616670352125/, the centerboard http://www.flickr.com/photos/339924...72157616670352125/?rotated=1&cb=1247059464638. I keep it in the water so not sure if I can get you accurate dimensions any time soon. But, if I pull it out I'll definitely take measurements. Good luck!!

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping someone else had a Hawk. Aaron, I would like to come look at your Hawk sometime. There are more questions on some of the rigging that I would like to see how it is set up. My daughter goes to IWU in Marion, so Indy is only about an hour from there, right? Really like the paint job on your Hawk, hope to do the same to mine.

Thanks again,

Any time Kevin! It's docked at Eagle Creek Sailing Club. Let me know when you'll next be in the area.

Hi,
I just bought an early Pearson Hawk and do have a rudder/tiller. I don't have a centerboard and need the dimensions. I don't know the year of my Hawk but it does have approximatly 45 foot of teak on it. I'd be interested in talking to you and other Hawk owners. I could take the dimensions of the tiller/rudder and send it to you with pictures. My name is Bill and I live in Chelsea, Mich 50 miles north of the Mich/Ohio border. My phone number is 734-475-7555 and my e-mail is kiwk007@aol.com I just was on Google and under Pearson Hawk sailboat found a guy who just restored a 63 Hawk and he has before and after pictures with the rudder/tiller you need.
