We've returned from our early spring oceanographic cruise downeast. Incredible trip. I doubt many Maine cruisers have had the Petit Mannan lighthouse 9 miles off their STARBOARD beam the last week in May.
No breakdowns, just had the cover to the anchor rode pipe snap off and a loose knob on the steering wheel brake (poor design by Edson). I did have a minor brain fade that escalated into a near death experience (seriously). An enormous effort, the first time I've thought maybe my heart could just quit, put me in position to save us from gruesome death (or at least a rescue I would never have lived down) by one of the most amazing bits of luck I have ever had. It's too good a story for the net, you'll all have to wait until the "Points East" article comes out.
I don't know how I'm ever going to catch up on what's gone on around here while I've been gone. Hopefully, that's a problem I'll have a lot this summer.
