It's a raw water pump
so the impellers are operated by the shaft going into the engine and that shaft can only move one way, regardless of the impeller insertion "direction" because the vanes will straighten out in a nanosecond once the shaft starts. "Least they are on our Universal M25. As the last responder pictured, other engines might be different, i.e., belt driven, but if they can only operate in one direction, you could either twist the pump 180 degrees or correct the hose connections - same thing. Make sure the thru hull is open and clear and that the hoses are connected properly.
Then find the "knimknulls" who did the work, show them the problem they created, smile and say "No more of my business for you, I can do it better myself!"
