Hi Folks,
Looking to install a 'secondary' winch next to existing Stb side to be dedicated solely to the STB Jib sheet.
I found this pic (attached)... so someone has done it somewhere.
Just wondering if there's a specific location that still utilises the impregnated Alum strengthening plate... or would I just bang it in where it kinda fits?
I think I can access for nuts n washers from an inspection panel in the head/bathroom. I club race 'Chummy' down here in QLD Australia and always seem to be one winch short in the heat of battle haha.

Good morning, Marc, down under. What exact function does the added winch perform and what maximum load do you expect it to carry? Hunter designed and built winch locations to handle design loads. Not a good idea to add one in some arbitrary location without some serious considerations, the main one being is there room to place a large strong backing plate on the underside to spread the anticipate load? Another, as I do not know your situation, will it interfere with any unintended activities, such as loading/unloading the primary winch, winch handle swing, etc.

I think I'm looking at the cabin top aside the companionway for the new winch. Isn't there a winch on or near the cockpit combing for the stb jib sheet? How is the port jib sheet handled?
Cabin top winches usually handle halyards, reefing lines, vang, outhaul, etc.

UPDATE: Extra winches all done folks thanks for your input.
Bit fiddly 'fine fingering' on the nuts and washers up through the bathroom ceiling inspection covers (covers were not quite where I wanted the winch... they never are) and under cockpit combing.
I re-enforced the coach roof base with a 140 x 200 x 2mm custom cut stainless plate which flushed up into the deck head quite nicely.
Not required for cockpit as bases for 'optional' winches were nicely moulded in from factory with re-enforcement built in (thanks Hunter Design team!).
All works a treat... and coach top winch perfectly positioned so no fouling with other winch in operation.
SV 'Chummy' now all 'Race Ready' to be able to trim mainsheet / heady sheet in real time rolling off their own dedicated winches.
And come the top mark, can now run the TDF Aso Kite from its own dedicated sheets winches. She'll be the world's fastest caravan!!!
Will post the whole show in operation when we get a nice day (5-8kts) to test everything.
Happy Sailin' and Cheers - Mark Mac C/- 'Downunder'
