Got to ask : what is the orange material on the threaded pipe joints ?

Ralph... I suspect the red is High Temp Pipe Dope.

Yes, that weld looks really nice and I was happy to get that done. And the orange red stuff is Permatex high temp gasket sealant. I put some on the threads before I screwed it all together, and then I proceeded to make a mess with it afterwards, but it’s all good all covered by the heat wrap. And if we’re talking about ours for longevity of exhaust pipe, my iron pipe lasted exactly 6 years and around 500 hours maybe less

I used it when making my exhaust connections. My mechanic did the work of making the connections. He also got a bit of goo everywhere.:yikes:

Don't know. Whatever Catalina Direct was using since the mid-90s. I bought my then-12 year old boat in 1998 and started keeping track of our 1,800 C34s since then.
