I wish there was a way to search marinas by price. If I was looking for a cheap/inexpensive marina in Ct. small nothing to fancy. I know ha ha . Sailboat marina not to far up a river. I guess I'd have to call or search each one to get prices? Any ideas? Seems like I'd have to make a lot of phone calls.

How are you searching? I think you are probably right - a lot of phone calls...

I've found that marinas don't want to disclose prices either on the phone or in person. I've had marinas refuse to give me their price sheet in person. I think they are embarrassed at the level of prices, and especially don't want you to comparatively shop.
Marinas are the most unpleasant part of boating.

That's interesting. I was looking in the Long Island Sound region a few years ago and did have to go to the actual marina at times to get the prices - but down in the Chesapeake region, I've not had that issue. I've usually been able to find the information online or through a phone call....

p.s. Once you do find a good marina - hang onto it! I quite agree dealing with marinas can be a rather unpleasant part of boating...

I'm 2 hours from Ct. and 4 hours from Chesapeake Bay. I sail with a friend at Rock Hall Maryland. He drives the 4 hours mostly because of the cheaper slip fees. A lot cheaper. We sailed this past weekend , it was beautiful.

I used to have a boat in Rock Hall - nice place! I'm now across the bay from Rock Hall. the Chesapeake is a beautiful sailing grounds!

I'm here because of the MUCH more reasonable prices than I was finding up in the Long Island Sound region - like an order of magnitude less....

Maybe that is a regional thing?

This hasn't been my experience, at all. I have worked with or talked to over 100 marinas, mostly in WA state. Every single one of them was pleasant to work with, helpful, and very open about pricing.

We're probably a bit out of the way for you though, @Dave Satter

Back in the day.... Active Captain had that info .... but AC got absorbed by Garmin. I'm not sure if that feature is still there.
