Mac 25 mainsail woes or ok

Easier than I thought. Once I got the stitching out, I grabbed 4’ up the luff and pulled, the bolt rope moved over 3 inches. I’d say it was shrunk. I won’t know how much it will move until I hoist it. I’m thinking I should take a needle and thread when we go out. I’ll put a few stitches back in to prevent further movement.
I would imagine this weakens the sail and allows for a bit more time to replace it?

You'll want to have the tension on the bolt rope, not the sail cloth, when hoisted so don't sew it in too loose either. the rope protects the sail cloth.
I found a North Sail that has been stored for a long time. The seller says it’s in good shape. It is a bit smaller than the one we have now. Blown sail Luff is 23’8” and the foot is 9’7”. This new to us North Sail is only 20’8” the foot is 9’6”. It’s definitely a bit smaller but for us day sailing, I think it may still be better than the blown factory. For a short road trip and a cost equal to lunch, I’m going to try it.

Funny you say that, it actually has reef cringles. Hoping for a Cunningham too but I can’t see it in the picture. I was going to comment on it but thought, it’s already going to be reefed. LOL.
