It had been a long time since since installing uphaul rudder lines and I am reaching out to you for advice particularly on the 240 and 260. All I can recall there was a line tied to the rudder head to a small turning block within the rudder post.
was the block above or below the bolt inside the rudder post.
I am drawing a blank. The. Drawings are not clear. I have two inquiries both Hunter 240’s. I would appreciate any help. @caverun @rgranger @patbratton

@Teboll pictures please. Also look inside your rudder post for any turning blocks

Hey Dave, the original downhaul line had a single block inside the post (near the bottom) with a 2:1 purchase. Many have upgraded to a 4:1 system using 2 double micro-blocks as explained on this web page, scroll down to the bottom section:

The Harken micro-blocks do fit inside the rudder post.

I purchased the blocks and new line for the rudder and have never gotten around to installing. I found that my rudder is water logged and I just haven't gotten around to replacing it.

Is this pic what your looking for Dave? This is for a H23.5. The drawing is pretty busy, but you get the idea. I never used the setup on my boat. Id just move it up and down by hand. But I normally only had to do that at the beginning and end of the season.

Dave, On my H23.5, I don't see any blocks on the rudder uphaul line. I attached a picture of my rudder, in the UP position. I also attached a copy of the rudder drawing from the Owner's Manual. I don't see any blocks, unless I'm missing something. I hope this answers your question. The blue line is just to hold the rudder in the UP position.
Cheers,
-Adrian

Thanks to all the posts. on my hunter 240 my rudder line post does not have any blocks in it. With help feed a line down and through to the downhaul hole, knotted it and ensured did not bind. Then tied the other end to the uphaul. Works again. best to all.

My 240 never had a block system. I've broken off 2 rudders then got one from Idarudders made of composite material heavy but i can get it up using single line and I just turned 78, so you can handle it. I think the company name is now Ruddercraft.
