You were using the wrong jig saw blade. With the correct blade, that makes a very clean cut.

Anything in particular I should be using? I don’t remember if it was a wood blade or a metal blade.

When I cut mine, I just used my band saw to cut the blank to 1/8" to 1/4" oversize and then using the old lens as a template cut to fit with a carbide blade router bit with ball bearing guide. The old lens was held in place with double stick tape. In my case, I wanted the new lens to be 1/8" smaller than the old and I used a rabiting bit that had different sized bearing so the final was just a bit smaller to allow for a thicker bed of the Dow 795 adhesive.

The final cut came out very clean.
