Ahoy there,
I have just purchased 1978 S2 9.2a with a 2GM20F Yanmar. The boat is in a great shape. I love the cabinetry and simplicity of the rig. I gutted the toilet system and I am doing small tasks here and there to make her ready for the next season. The main was reinstalling rudder to change stuffing, lower the drive (Edsom wheel drive) to correct alignment of the steering cables and adding bushing/bearing rudder stock retaining ring. Electronics will have to be upgraded since having accurate depth finder would be critical to my survival where I sail (I have a 4'11" draft version). I have a questions for all of you who own the same boat. Where and how is(are) transducer(s) placed on your boat? Mine is glued in the storage area under the port lazarette. I am contemplating drilling 2 inch hole in the bottom of my boat to mount in hull transducer but I am having nightmares about that. Any thought about doing that versus staying with in hull glued version?

The “in hull” or also called “Through Hull” transducer works very well for sailing depth reporting. Maybe if you were fishing and needed to know what was happening 300feet below the boat an exposed Transducer would be worthwhile.
