He tried, I'm a bad fisherman. He needs to come back and teach me to fish again. Then I hope I'll get it!

Just as a note - I showed his soft shackles to some professional riggers and they were impressed saying they were the best finished soft shackles they'd seen!

Since you have good high-speed data and time on your hands. John sent me this video on Brian Toss's Wall and Crown(ish) knot.

Here's this morning's update - looks like they are beginning to head more to the west:

Yes, at 1900 last night it looked like time to gybe and head west. We made great time last night. I've got to get my updates to the weather/routing crew but it looks like I may have been running close to 7 knots all night. We are slower right now but hoping for better wind to pick up.

While beyond the coastal relay stations, Musetta would need to come close to another commercial vessel that could relay his signal. It is possible a paid satellite service with MT could provide constant access to his AIS signal. Other wise David sends position reports once a day at 1500UTC. It is a part of his daily checkin. He also takes the time to connect here on SBO for those following his adventure.

11:35 UTC

Current position

21 20.649 N
021 18.506 W

Running straight downwind wing on wing. I've got the Genoa out on the whisker pole and the main sail with preventer on opposite side.

Took a bit of fiddling to get her stable, we back-winded the main twice giving us a fun merry go round ride.... But we've got her set, she's been running steady since about 0300 UTC.

It's well before my usual update time but as we were talking about cool places to visit, we needed Internet to bring up the maps. So I fired up Starlink early...

Sounds like a lot of fun!!
I call it the downwind waddle... The boat gets a wave from the aft starboard side, the port bow goes down, as the wave passes the aft starboard side goes down and the forward port side comes up. So it's back and forth - Over and over and over... Hahahaha

Makes cooking and eating a rather "grab and go" process...

Cape Verde is the normal Birth area of African Monsoon Hurricanes.

This is the warmer water that [melts butter] and gives you the Westerlies winds.
_______

In email discussions, John laid out options for Dave on the LOW Pressure Cell in front of the Musetta and crew.

Dave said he had enough fuel to make it to the Antilles.

Expect a more Westerly turn in the next few days.
