Waste Tank Level Indication Hunter 33 2004

My waste tank level indicator has not worked for years. I rely on using a flashlight at top of tank to see level. Now, i would like to fix this. I am wondering if i can change the level sensing to the same as the water/waste tanks (outside copper strips (measuring capacitance, i guess). This way i don't have to mess with the inside sensor.

Thoughts?

Thank you,

That's exactly what I did a couple of years after getting the boat new in 1999. If your current sensor relies on a float in a cylindrical cage, mine never worked for more than a few weeks after each cleaning. You can use your existing wiring but the sensor and indicator will be all new.

The above should say "ORIGINAL SENSOR".

Due to the shape of the tank, the sensor strips were mounted at an angle on the recommendations of the manufacturer.

The sender originally installed is (relatively) inexpensive. Search for KUS or Wema SSL 16 sender.
Run you about $50.

Your boat, your choice.

Replaced mine couple of years ago. Was straight forward, no issues. Got it from the SBO store here.

SCAD tank monitors Scad Tank Monitors are top rated. They use sensors that attach to the outside of the tank, will work on any material but metal (and they have an internal sensor for metal tanks)...highly reliable and reasonably priced.

Thanks, Peggy. On your recommendation, I‘ve just ordered the SCAD two tank monitor from Defender for my fiberglass water and waste tanks. My tank monitor system to date has been intuition, guesswork & surprise. The surprises did improve my intuition over the years, but this will be a big improvement.
