A foreign sailor arrived in Hawaii. The customs dock had a line of boats waiting their turn to enter the country. He finally was allowed to dock after about an hour waiting his turn. Once the sailor had filled out his paperwork, it took him about an hour in the customs station, standing in another line, just to hand the papers in.

The sailor was allowed to enter the country and had to move to another slip at the marina. The check-in process took another hour waiting in line at the harbor master's office. By the time the sailor was all settled in, he was thirsty, so he went into town to find a bar. It was Saturday night and the bar was so popular that there was a line waiting outside, just to get in. He was told it would be about an hour.

Looking around, he saw a small establishment that sold punch, so he thought he could try that. He was pleasantly surprised, as I'm sure you are too, to discover there was no punch line.

A sailor had a lot of beginning-of-season maintenance to get through before he could take his mistress out for his first Spring sail. He had bright work to sand and add another coat to. There were lines to inspect and sails to shake out and scrub. He had to check her oil and make sure the filters were changed and the engine started. All that Spring work to do as soon as his beautiful boat was in the water.

He jumped right in, visions of gorgeous Summer days spent under sail, crowded his mind. After a while, he started to really get into it and began to sing. He sang, Blow the Man Down, Drunken Sailor, Barrett's Privateers, all the sea ditties he could think of.

It wasn't long until the sailor, aboard the boat docked next to him, popped his head up from below and commented, "Ya know, I use to wish I could sing. Now I just wish you could."
