I am having trouble getting parts for my engine in Florida, several of the distributors no longer carry them. Can I have some suggestions of where other people get their parts.

Thanks,
Mark

You are discovering the hidden truth about boat engines.
Nearly every modern marine diesel is built around an industrial block engineered primarily for use on land. All have internal flywheels, and a good number of them run at 3,600 rpm or higher. Except in a few cases, each marine-engine manufacturer marinizes the basic block by adding the components required for marine use. Some components are generic, off-the-shelf parts (alternators and raw-water pumps, for example); others are custom designed and fabricated specifically for each engine model (exhaust manifolds). To save weight and combat corrosion, these engines use more aluminum alloys, bronze, and stainless steel rather than cast iron or steel. In some power plants, you’ll find more exotic alloys, such as Almag 90 (a magnesium-aluminum alloy used by Westerbeke for exhaust elbows and manifolds). Plastic parts are common, especially for such light-duty applications as belt guards and air-intake baffles. (Cruising World Diesel Engines: Not Your Father's 4-108)

The trick is to get the Kubota block #, Figure out which tractor it fits also helps. I used to get my parts at the Kubota tractor dealer. They cannot look up marine parts but if you give them a part number they can order it. I needed a rebuild kit and a head that I bought from Kumar Bros in NJ. The gasket kit did have an incorrect O-ring- had to use the old one. My block was a Kubota D-950

The D905 Kubota in my Tractor and my Universal M-25XPB are pretty darn near identical. From what I have seen most of the 3 cylinder Kubota's share many of the same parts as well. I have been finding a lot of Kubota parts on Amazon as well.

Look for a sticker on your valve cover. It will tell you what model of Kubota you really have.

M-25XPB - Kubota D-950 - D1005.
I've got to a point that I just go to the Local Kubota dealer with the actual part and they have so far been able to match the parts. The BIG plus it is usually a 1/3 of the price.

Bingo. Another source can be a local industrial diesel repair shop. A few years back when my M-25XPB injector pump failed (instant shutdown, no hesitation or sputtering) the marine distributor wanted over $1500 for a rebuilt pump, the local shop had the parts in stock and did it for $540 parts and labor, and did it in 2 days.
I was able to give him the Kubota model number cross reference.
Attached are a couple files with engine info I found. Sorry about the poor resolution on the engine data file, it was the best one I found.

Sorry, I just did an image save and changed the title, so I don' know where it came from.
It was 5 or 6 years ago, and I came across it on a forum somewhere as I remember.
I tried a Google image search and came up empty, but I'm not familiar with that kind of search and possibly didn't do it right.
