Even though my boat is not put away for the winter, I miss sailing, also, but for a different reason.

Car wreck, snapped my tibia. Anchored ashore for 6-8 weeks.

Oh my @WayneH. Did they wrap it on pink bandages to hide the blood? :yikes:

That had to hurt. Sorry for your unfortunate luck.

Well you’ll just have more forum time available.

Heal quickly.

We had our first snow in the Chicago area today. I cut the grass in shorts last week :( What a see-saw ride.

But I have a big list of projects to work on over the long, dark, cold winter…

And Admiral and I will head to Maui for a few weeks in Jan/Feb.

Not to gloat, but we enjoy a longer, if somewhat hotter, season here in north Texas. Our club's Winter Regatta is on December 3rd. Whether I sail depends on the weather, but shortly thereafter the boat will be parked in my driveway rather than in its slip at the marina. Time to start getting those winter projects lined up!

Very painful! I snapped my tibia on New Year's Eve (day) almost 20 years ago and has been the only bone I've ever broken. Are you in a cast under that wrapping? I was in a cast from thigh to the arch of my foot for 4 weeks to lock the knee and the ankle. Doctor then removed the cast and made a sort of custom boot that went up the leg. My leg was unprotected for 2 weeks while the boot was being made, so I was basically the most immobile during that 2-week period. I only wore that boot for about 2 weeks before I didn't need it anymore and started rehab on my joints. The knee joint recovered quickly but it took months for the ankle swelling to go down and the joint to become flexible again. But I was skiing in November the next season. I had twinges of pain after starting to walk, then run during the first year, but by the time I was skiing again, I've never felt any consequence for having a pretty serious break. Good luck with your recovery! You'll soon only have a vague memory of the time being immobile!

I was on my boat yesterday.
But it’s was in the marina. Riding 3-4 inches high in the water. Remarkable how removing 700 pounds changes how my boat sits in the slip.

I miss it because of this. When management admitted she wasn't feeling the love anymore, ( for sailing, i think i am still good), i had to switch up. It has been fun but miss the peace and quiet and the 3 gallon gas tank!

I wonder if there are "group" meetings for us sailors anchored ashore?
