I used a filter like the one you show, on my new to me boat for about 6 months. It was readily available and not expensive. It was when I tried to clean it I realized it was not appropriate to the purpose. The plastic was degrading due to saltwater exposure and temperature. I removed it, tossed it.
I installed a Groco ARG-750 . Substantial construction able to take the boat conditions of near freezing waters and simple to maintain. Now in it's 7th year of service without any issues.

Cleaning from the top. Filter basket slips up and out. Hand tightened cap. No leaks.you can drain the jar using the bottom plug.
