Anyone have experience installing in boom furling on their catalina 315 Mine has in mast furling now Main qustion is , can the mast be retrofitted for the in boom furler?

I talked to a sailor who had just done is In Boom fuller in 2014.
His story was this...
1) Boom $4500 , boat show special
2) Installed himself , but recall extra cost of ≈$1500

I think the problem would be finding a track spanning the mast slot with something to which slides could be fitted. Seems doable for a price. Custom made?
Tides Marine ( Track & Slide Systems | Tides Marine ) makes tracks like that. I vaguely remember reading about using them for retrofits.
I would consult with each boom furler manufacturer on how they would modify your mast for their track.
An 89 yo friend added a schaefer boom furler on his PSC, it uses a behind the mast track that allows for full battens. Because it's all behind the mast I think it would work.

IIRC in many in-mast furling setups the sail slot is not centered on the mast? That could complicate attaching an add-on...

Thus the complexity of altering a primary system on a sail boat. Yes it can be done. It is all about the money and time involved in the refitting.
Your proposed project fits into the same category as repowering your sail boat with a different engine/system in my thinking.
In some cases sure go for it... in some what are you thinking. Some times it would be better to sell a boat and buy the boat and systems you desire.
