Oil Change 18hp Yanmar

I have a 2GM20F Yanmar with the same issue.
I bought a clear, polymer tube at the hardware store that reaches the bottom of the oil pan.
It fits the outside diameter of the black plastic tube that came with my oil extraction pump.
I can't recall the diameter of the extension tube, but you could get a small length of a couple
of diameters to determine which fits.
Remember to warm the engine oil before extraction.

I also have a 2GM20F engine. I purchased one of the on Amazon and it includes several different size tubes. I use the largest one that fits into the dipstick tube.

I have one of those, too, Greg. Work great. My plan, though, is to install an electric oil change pump with a manifold and selector valves so I can pump out and pump in oil for both the engine and transmission. A guy can dream, can't he?

On my Yanmar 2QM15 I can insert the pump pickup tube down through the oil fill port on the valve cover, wiggle it over to the rear corner of the push rod opening in the block casting at wiggle it down to the very bottom of the oil sump. I can pump out just about the entire specified capacity for oil in this engine. Conversely, using the dipstick port leaves about half the old oil in the sump. Takes a little patience but works for me. If you use the dipstick port, it would be best to run the engine after you fill it with new oil and then change it again to improve your results. I have done both and prefer using the oil fill port for a one shot oil change. Works on a two cylinder but maybe not on a larger engine.

The secret is to warm up the oil before you try to suck it out. It will never work otherwise.
I bought a manual pump mentioned in Practical Sailor. It has a straw-like tube that works well

When I look at the suction tube of my vacuum pump it looks suspiciously like the outside of a bike’s brake cable. If I were you go to a bike shop and buy a brake cable, remove the inside and check if it fits. I don’t think this will rake the bank.

If you just need a smaller diameter hose, I would think Ace Hardware or similar home improvement store would have a large selection of tubing. Has to be cheaper than buying bike cables…

I use this oil extractor for my 13 hp Yanmar 2GM engine. The engine needs to be warm for it to work. Jiggle the tube around a bit. I found that if I jam it in too hard, the tube seems to bend upward inside the oil pan and sucks air instead of oil.

Almost exactly the same as the Pela oil extractor I use.

Except yours is sensibly priced. No matter what you pay, well worth it as they come with various sized hoses and pull a strong vacuum.
