I currently have my 37c sloop rigged with a 140. Sometimes when tacking my sheets get caught on the vents. Has anyone encountered this and have a solution? Thanks.

I have adjustable Genoa blocks on cars.. Just before tacking I'll run the cars forward. This prevents the sheets from flogging the isinglass and wrapping on the dorades..

I think the release has a lot to do with it. Try a later release - like when the 140 has filled on the new windward side. That should cause the jib to snap through the foretriangle with less tendency to cause mischief.

Later model H37C (1982-83 on) had a stainless steel 'crash' bar spanning over the dorade vents. I never hooked one with a sheet on my old boat.

keeping the slack out of the sheet has definitely been helping, definitely helps to have enough crew too.

Unfortunately not an easy option on this boat.

I think doing this has helped a little as well.

I saw a picture of what you mean, definitely looks like the best solution.

I have had that issue. Since losing one overboard, I now have a short tether screwed in to the vent and the other end into the dorade box. Of course since doing this I have not had a snag. Seems to work but the original theory was that the vent could be pulled out but not lost forever.
