Oh, I don't know. There's something kind of beautiful about old derelict boats.View attachment 186196View attachment 186197View attachment 186198 SNAP!
Must admit I like Jon’s eye candy photos better
I couldn't agree more, that is, when the derelict is a wooden boat. Wooden boats gracefully turn into compost.Oh, I don't know. There's something kind of beautiful about old derelict boats.

I always get good mileage out of painting this when I paint the boot top:Sometimes it takes a special eye to see the beauty where others see neglect and work.
Maybe we shouldn't be so quick to jump into those awful bottom jobs.![]()
You’d think they could at least turn it around once in awhile. We have/ had a couple like that in our marina. One the owner passed away and the new owner has spent a good deal of elbow grease cleaning it up. Another may go that way- owner recently passed, the boat is an Albin Vega with a brand new Beta Marine engine. Would be a good deal for someone I think. This one on the west coast has moss growing on the north side. Now there is absolutely no excuse for that. View attachment 186250

That it is. Probably has a few more “interesting” features on her.Interesting hard dodger....
Maybe it is an experiment. Have you heard of living buildings? Maybe that is what this is... a living boat. This one on the west coast has moss growing on the north side. Now there is absolutely no excuse for that. View attachment 186250
I got a boat under similar circumstances once. The widow left it parked under a pine tree for 5 years, covered in sap and lichen. Then a friend acquired it and I helped him rig and launch it and about two month later he tore a rotor cuff... sat for another few years and then I got it... turned it into a nice little pocket cruiser but I stripped it to bare hull and removed all deck hardware and started over. You’d think they could at least turn it around once in awhile. Agreed. They are experimenting how to recycle fibreglass using moss and fungi.Maybe it is an experiment
On a semi-serious note... when I look at that pic I can't help but experience the sensation of smelling mold and mildew. Just imagine what the inside of that boat smells like.Agreed. They are experimenting how to recycle fibreglass using moss and fungi.
Hey, I did that so I can tell which way I'm going. I can't afford all them fancy compass gadgets y'all use.has moss growing on the north side.
I actually laughed out loud. I hope no one was passing by my office just now.Hey, I did that so I can tell which way I'm going. I can't afford all them fancy compass gadgets y'all use.
