I think if you do a search in the archives you will find that there are as many favorite props as there are boats and boat owners. The question surfaces periodically and to much amazement the same listing Of favorites starts all over again 
my 38 has the same 40 HP engine you have. When I decided I wanted a feathering prop I called the dealer I bought it from and he told me the brand he used Most frequently and had good results with. I called that company and told them boat and engine information and the recommended prop size and pitch.

Ditto quadrille38 ............depends what type of propeller type (fixed blade, folding, feathering) and how much you are willing to spend. You can do a search on this site for propeller recommendations. Once you select a propeller then go to the manufacturer/dealer and they will provide a quote for one sized specifically for your boat and motor. I installed a 3 bladed fixed propeller on my Hunter 31, 386 and now 46 for cost effectiveness and maneuverability.

I have the same sailboat and same engine, with a clean bottom in flat water i can do at 2200 rpm 5.7 knots, if you do the same you have the same prop as i do. Thats the factory one. In my next hail out i am going to change the prop with a 3 blade that will not fold but set in a neutral position and i will increase 1 inch the pich

I am considering replacing my 3-blade fixed prop with a used feathering EWOL stainless prop, but I am stuck on the size I ought to get. What size is your blade in which you have such happiness.
