I am a new owner of a 1982 hunter 22.. I have it in the water and am rigging the boom and see that I have a pully setup for a boom vang but I do not see where my block attaches at the foot of the mast. I see the ring on the boom but where it connects to the mast base or deck is a mystery. Am I missing some hardware?

I was trying to use the app and the button was not there. If you use google it's there. Let's try again. Now it says the files are too large... even if they are .gif 5MB. I made the Images smaller. If you need more detail on something let me know.

My H23 came with one of these on the pin that goes through the mast foot and mast base:
Hook one of your snap shackles through the hole in it and the other snap shackle onto the bail on your boom.
I wondered if that may be the case. Is there a washer keeping it from twisting the retaining clip? I do not recall seeing this in my parts bin. Thank you for the ordering link.

Is there a cleat on your boom near the forward end? If so, I would put the block with the free end of the line at the base of the mast and cleat the line on the fwd end of the boom. But others may have a better suggestion...
There are two cleats on the boom. One on the bottom and one on the port side. Both are forward of the forward bail. The bottom one looks like the outhaul is tied to it.( Not sure why it wouldn't be closer to the cockpit. My cp16 outhaul cleat was at the very aft end of the boom.) the port side one has something else... Reefing rig.. downhaul?? See above pic b12.
This is the one that is on my H26
If you zoom into the end that has the fiddle block, you can see there is a groove that you can lift the line into. The line "jams" and holds in that groove.

FYI . That vang hinge was just barely too small for my 22 (1982) pins. Worth the chance. One with a 3-4mm bigger hole would be perfect.
Rgranger. The PO had that as the main haliard connection. I have proper haliard clips for the main - perhaps I'll swap that out and see if it fits.
