I have had to replace both he knot and depth gauged transducers in my 1998 Hunter 29.5. Does anyone have any advice on how to get the cable back to the cockpit?

Attach the new cable to the old existing cable and then pull for all you're worth :dancing:. Make sure the connection is streamlined.

This is really the easiest part of the job. Are you confident in replacing the two transducers ?

The Knot meter transducer was an easy swap as it fit in the old transducer housing. The depth transducer was a bitch! 4 hours in the hold jacking with the dry welded nut. Finally book free then another few hours trying to get it out of the boat. Beat it silly and flattened there brass top so I could not pull thru the hull. Multitool with hacksaw did the trick in a few minutes. Cleaned up the hole and hull and installed the new one.

Do you think I should pull from the helm or from somewhere below? Not sure where that would be however. Thanks for your help!

Well that's just standard operating procedure for most ANY job on a boat.

Do you think I should pull from the helm or from somewhere below?
Refer to your owner's manual to see if there are various spots along the run to open up and slowly nudge the cable along. This should be very close to what you have:

Thanks Ralph, Mine is different. There is about a 1.5" pic pipe in the hold running aft. I am not able to see it in my owners manual. i am going to call Marlow and see what they have to say.

I wanted to let you know who it went. I had a sound system installed about 10 years ago. I found a coil of controller wire in the bow that ran a stern. I uncoiled it and taped twine to it using gamers tape. The wire ran to the battery lazaret where I pulled it sand with in 2 min. the twine appeared. Went bak to the hold anther taped one of the transducer wires to the twine and repeated the process. Within 15 min both transducer wires were pull through to the battery compartment. Repeating the same process in at the helm I had all wires in place and ready to connect in no time at all. Splashed her on Thursday and no leaks and all new instruments worked 5x5!

You can just splice the new wires to the old, original ones. Try it at least before you have to tear your boat apart routing the wires. I have done it and it works.
