I would appreciate pictures of installation if you have installed a 12 volt windlass on your B 351 Oceanis, or any of the similar models.
thank you in advance

You did not indicate your boat's year. Below is a 1994 B Oceanis 351 windlass photo.

On Legacy, a B 351, all of the papers say 94, but as I was sitting in the cockpit last weekend, I looked down and there was a plaque that said 1993. I have not looked at the serial number. Suspect keel was laid in 93 and finished in 94, or maybe sold new in 94. But should be identical to yours. Is that a tigress with 5/16 HT, or 3/8. How much chain and how much warp (I read today that is the right word, I think, rather than line).

I also notice that you have dual bow rollers, where my B 351 only has a single on starboard. Is that factory or did you modify,.

I suspect bow duel bow roller was an option. I recommend verifying chain diameter that fits your windlass with a short section of chain you can purchase from a chandlery. That is what I did to ensure I purchased the correct chain diameter when I replaced it last year. As far as the length of chain and warp, it depends on where you plan to anchor (depth, current and wind conditions). I have 5/8" x 300' 8-Plait Nylon warp and 5/16” x 50 feet G43 G4 Anchor rode plus a swivel. Some sailors like a lot more chain based on where they plan to anchor.

The factory-installed windlass anchor/rode/warp up and down are controlled by separate foot switches on the deck adjacent to the windlass. Of course would be nice if they were at the helm like on powerboats. I guess I could buy a remote fo that.

Yes, on my previous boat (Island Packet 44) it was at both, a rocker swich at the helm and foot switches on the foredeck.

I should have asked, do you cruise in the 351? How much do you anchor out? We have shifted to the 351 as we have gotten a little older and were not comfortable, even with electric winches and boom furling, about getting back in a MOB scenario to each other in a reasonable amount of time. Spent a wonderful month in Exumas this time last year, but had a complete power failure going into the north anchorage at Warderick Wells. No electric winches or boom furling, no depth sounder, no gps in a very narrow channel. It was a failed battery selector switch, but it made us rethink reliance upon that much electrics. Even on an incredibly robust boat. Stuff breaks eventually.

Mike mine is the same plaque says 93 ,but my paper work says 94 , I talk to Ward at Beneteau and he went thru the serial number with me ,my boat was started in nov 93 and finished in feb /94 and was the 3rd one made .
The 3 numbers after BEYUS003 are the hull the last 2 digits should be 94.
My windless has a plug in hand held ,that plugs in beside windless , I also ran a remote switch at the helm so I can set and haul from there. I had plans to add a chain counter , where a magnet is added to the side of the gypsy and prox switch reads every rotation ,counter mounted at helm , every rotation is 10 inches of chain ,bought all the parts ,however due to virus we are locked out from our boats until mid May or longer or I would send you pic's

We cruise every week, primarily in the San Francisco Bay with overnighters at a destination marina. We only anchor out during lunch, not overnight, albeit we used to anchor out all over the Chesapeake Bay where it has protected anchorages. We like our electronics and maintain a backups (handheld vhf and electric winch, charts and an extra hand to manually hoist up a 60 pound anchor).

You can do it from the helm with a SPDT switch. I have the wired paddle at the bow, a switch at the helm. You can get them with "windlass" or up/down on them. You only need to pick up 12v from somewhere in the helm and use a 2-conductor wire to the bow. If you only UP the anchor from the helm, you only need SPST and 1-wire.

In looking at your installation of the Tigress windlass (I think that is what it is) you have cut the fiberglass to make room for electric motor part of the windlass. Did you have to cut into the forward cabin, or was that just part of the anchor locker.
