I am nearly finished prepping my catalina 22 for paint all Over the hill and the deck. I live in eastern Pennsylvania and it has been over 50° during the day but dips below 50° in the evening. Is it OK if I apply paint during the day when it is well above 50° even though it will go below 50° at night?
Assuming your C-22 is on a trailer and you have the space, consider parking with the bow pointing due South. My boat points close to that and I use the sun for all brushing.
Once temps are in coating range, I'll start on the east side which stays in the shade until about 10 - 11 am, due to a hill to the east. I'll wrap that side up whether painting the topsides, varnishing toe rail or house on that side, even the bottom paint.
Then I'll move to the starboard side as the sun starts to warm the side I just painted. I'll finish my work on the shaded side, just as the sun breaks around the bow.
