44DS/AC or 41DS/AC Need Your Thoughts

Hi all:
I have attached a photo of the acrylic galley sink back splash from Maxine. Over the years the acrylic has become partially clouded. The clouded area is forward of the double sink. The acrylic remains clear toward each end of the back splash. So I need some advice on an effective way to restore the clarity of the acrylic. I have researched on YouTube but what I have found so far hasn't been exactly my problem. The clouding seems to be almost crystalline and nothing I have used so far has had the desired affect. I tried Turtle Wax headlight restorer. This shined the clear sections but not the clouded areas. Next I tried 2000 grit wet sand paper. No effect. Then I tried buffing with the treatment from the Turtle Wax kit but again with no effect.
I'd appreciate ideas on where to go next, hopefully with better results.
Thanks
Rick

Other than replacement, you migh try the stuff used to clean up car headlights. It is a plastic that try’s to fill in the micro scratches.

I’ve also had some luck with Maguires Plastic cleaner and polish. #17 and #10.

Or you can try the buffing wheel and some jewelers rouge.

The cleaner polish is a lot of hand rubbing. Used it on the cover of a scratched clock face. Cleaned up 30 years of wear.

If the cracks are deep only solution is replace it. Remove and take to a local plastics shop, like Tap Plastics. Replacement built while you wait.

Replacement is your only option. The problem you describe goes more than surface deep. No amount of buffing or magic plastic restoring goop will fix it.

Ok guys thanks for your thoughts and advice.
And the "nays" have it!
I ordered a replacement from the SBO store. It will look way better than anything I could accomplish in trying to revive the original. Also, "she" who spends the most time in the galley personally endorsed the replacement option. Her vote is my command :)
Thanks again
Rick

It is the little successes that happen during Spring prep for sailing that have such meaning.

Stay away from ammonia based cleaners, they cause crazing and fogging.

Yeah, we decided that a cleaner we used, not sure which, attacked the acrylic. New one in the mail and we will use only water on this one.

I am Captain Tidy!
She is Admiral Clean!
______
Beware, if the Admiral tries both roles.
Why?

I get Clean tools and items, in the wrong place.
