Drool Terry. You should be here.
Unnn! Yes, I agree. Long over due for a fix. Maybe next week during our mid winter break. Hope the weather holds. Told Tom Burgess that maybe time for a rendezvous in Friday Harbor.

Argh. School District just called and school closed tomorrow. Summer break getting shorter and shorter. Oh well, usually spend the fourth of July around the islands before heading north. Still plenty of time for cruising.

Les, it appeared that you were tied up earlier at a little dock South of the marina and North of the WSF dock. Was that to clear customs? Did you not clear using ROAM? Last year we tied up at the long linear dock to the East and had to walk up, in the pouring rain, passed the market to the new CBP building to renew our annual Cruising License.

That was the fuel dock. Customs is on the outside 3/4 way north. Local guys said it was too dangerous to man their kiosk due to snow on the docks. ROAM was still pending till I docked at customs and had the locals on the phone.

Edit already had my customs sticker for 19

We found that Roam is still a work in progress. Not clear how the program functions. And I do not know if you can run it if you are not trying to check in.

A project that needs a better GUI.

If you plan on using ROAM, it helps to load all the data before you check in. The data can be entered and saved without connecting. I suspect it also works better if everyone has a Trusted Traveller ID number, Nexus, Global Entry, etc.

Loading the data was not an issue. It was speaking to and seeing the Agent. Who would guess that you have to swipe the phone to another page to interact with the Agent.Agent did not know haw the system worked.

Arrived Port Townsend. Nice in an uneventful way across the Juan D’Fuca Strait.

Minor details greated by Coasties while entering Admiralty Inlet. A wave by.

John and Ward haven’t mentioned one of best new feature of Mahalo. A side effect of the diesel heat is now a heated toilet seat. We’ve lost John in the head for 30+ minutes as he tries to warm up the frozen parts of his body.

Also had water clogged fuel filter just after Pt Wilson just before dropping the main. Switched to second filter but momentarily botched the lift pump switch. At the dock Ward helped swap out both filters.

Sun is out and lovely.

The first time I used the head on Mahalo I thought I had a problem. Things just got hotter and hotter
When I realized what Les had done with his heating system I realized he was planning ahead for these type of cruising adventures.
And I was very grateful
No frosty boys on this boat.

With my warm private parts. Not.

Oh a Les story. While Heading into the inlet we had passed the dangerous Point Wilson and the ripe tides, when the the engine coughs, sputters and dies.:yikes: Will not restart. :yikes::yikes:

John’s at the helm. Takes control of the boat. Managed sailing boat while the mechanic heads inside to uncover why the engine is dead. :(
Deja vu. March 2018. Winter cruise. Motor dies. John sails boat while Les is the mechanic.

All is resolved. Motor comes alive. We take sail down with Ward on deck secureing the sail and safely dock in Port Hudson.

This has been such a fun experience.

After reading this to the crew. I am encouraged to post this.
