H25 Bulkhead removal

This may be a long shot. But why can’t I remove the bulk heads between the V birth and the kitchen area? As long as I keep the main brace under the mast it doesn’t appear the the two flimsy walls are load bearing.
I’ve ditched the toilet, for now.

Looking for advice.

Thanks.

Where are your chain plates attached? The bulkheads keep the hull from "tin canning". Don't do it. fyi... galley, head, MSD, vee berth... with an "e".

Take pics first for sure and post. Making radical changes right away is probably not a good idea. Try getting her sail ready and enjoy for a year at least.

The first two images (grimier of the 4) are my boat.
The other two are off the web.
I was thinking I could open this boat up making it very spacious. But if the walls are structural then I’m out of luck.

Bulkheads are structural for holding the deck up and held the sides of hull to be rigid. Simple advice for a boat that old as the last ones were built in 1984/1985 is to
repair/clean boat and then enjoy sailing

Cabinet catch for many Hunters

These catches were common on Hunters from the Legend-era through today's Marlow-Hunters. We keep a large stock on hand for emergency shipments or just getting spares.

Yeah, who came up with that screen door on the submarine??

Actually, U1206 was sunk due to misuse of the stool in the head. It flooded the fwd section causing them to have to surface. Subsequently they were bombed and had to scuttle her before surrendering.

I had an h25 a few years back. First boat, if I understand your real problem it's that you want to sleep in the vberth but it's a bit short. We ran into that problem as well but decided to live with it. You could remove the forward bulk head as it's purely for separation of the space. The aft bulkhead just forward of the compression post should probably stay but isn't really needed for anything structural. These boats are havily built so there isn't too much chance of oil canning, you probably want to leave a frame of the bulk head since there is an inner liner which acts as a backing for the bulkhead. But all of the structure is actually in the hull and liner. The bulkhead is mostly for cabin separation only.
