looking for help.. new owner of a 30 cherubini and want to install a pedestal gaurd. I've been looking to buy 9.5 inch guard but having trouble figuring out what pedestal is on my boat. I need to know what top plate to get.. is it a edison? 6 7/8 ? 335 or 336? please help thank you ryan

Congrats on the new boat and welcome to the forum. You found a classic boat and a top notch forum.
The pedestal on my ‘82 H30 is definitely Edson. That said, there are numerous things on my boat that are different from the earlier Cherubini Hunters, so Yacht Specialties may well be what you have. It might help if you posted some photos, but the best info will come from someone with the same model year as yours.

MY '77 h30 has a YS pedestal. I picked up an Edson pedestal guard at a marine salvage lot. Fits perfectly.
Last winter I connected with a Floridian Gentleman that was scrapping/parting out his 1978 H30 due to storm damage. Actually the connection was initially made on this forum. He insisted that the pedestal system he had was Edson. I assumed mine was too, because our boats looked identical. When the components arrived I cleaned and painted the bracket and polished the guard tubing, drilled and retapped the tubing base anchor set screws. Two weeks ago I installed the bracket and guard (easy peasy) above the control lever housing with only needing to make a slight bend in the speed control lever so it wouldn’t hit the guard support bracket. The original setup looked like this during dismantle.
After the images provided in previous contributions from you and @Roland5048 commentary I now know my pedestal is a YS. I believe the round pedestal base may be the best clue. Regardless, I also believe that Edson and YS are interchangeable with respect to the guard and bracket. Perhaps the Floridian was also mistaken. Our completed project looks like this.

blowmeaway thank you very much your pedestal is identical to mine and what you did is exactly what I want to do..great info..did you use the 12" guard or the 9 1/4"?
Honestly I’m not sure, but thinking it’s more like 14-16” wide. The removable clamps on the table are placed to the appropriate width when you install that. So the table will fit any guard with two down tubes. The table actually comes shipped with two sized rubber grippers for 7/8” and 1” tubing. I’ll measure the span of my guard on Sunday and anything else you need. I’m also thinking the 12” span may work better for you, since the bracket would be narrower than mine and not cause issues with the motor speed control lever (aka throttle lever, I got schooled recently here on SBO about Diesel engine controls).

looks great.. i got ahead of my self I already got the exact table you installed. the pedestal gaurd is the only thing holding me up.. I will let you know if I need more measurements thanks again..
Did an installation years ago on an 83 h27 and used an Edson pedestal guard but used an adapter plate that fitted the Yacht Specialties Pedestal. I ordered it online from a vendor that advertised Yacht Specialties parts. Cant remember the name nor the specs on the plate, sorry.
